The National Center for Education Statistics\\u2019 (NCES) Education \\nDemographic and Geographic Estimate (EDGE) program develops annually \\nupdated school district boundary composite files that include public \\nelementary, secondary, and unified school district boundaries clipped to\\n the U.S. shoreline. School districts are special-purpose administrative\\n units designed by state and local officials to provide public education\\n for local residents. District boundaries are collected for NCES by the \\nU.S. Census Bureau to develop demographic estimates and to support \\neducational research and program administration. The NCES Common Core of\\n Data (CCD) program is an annual collection of basic administrative \\ncharacteristics for all public schools, school districts, and state \\neducation agencies in the United States. These characteristics are \\nreported by state education officials and include directory information,\\n number of students, number of teachers, grade span, and other \\nconditions. The administrative attributes in this layer were developed \\nfrom the 2019-2020 CCD collection.
