The layer depicted in this web map provides locations where the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) has held Annual Coastal Mapping and Charting Technical Workshops from 2000 to present day. Researchers, engineers, academics and industry experts convene annually at the JALBTCX Workshop to share knowledge and expertise in topic areas including airborne coastal mapping and charting sensor development, algorithm development, data fusion, topographic and bathymetric lidar, digital and spectral imagery, integrated data processing, derived information products, and coastal applications for these data. Formal presentations on these topics, in conjunction with software demonstrations and breakout sessions, secure the JALBTCX Workshop as the premiere, 3-day forum for understanding the state-of-the-art in coastal mapping and charting technologies and applications, and for learning about emerging\\u00a0technologies\\u00a0that will address the community's\\u00a0current technical challenges.\\u00a0\\u00a0
The JALBTCX mission is to perform operations, research and development in airborne lidar bathymetry and complementary technologies to support the coastal mapping and charting requirements of the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Survey operations are conducted worldwide using the Coastal Zone Mapping and Imaging (CZMIL) system and other industry-based coastal mapping and charting systems. Operations are coordinated with Federal Mapping partners through the Interagency Working Group on Ocean and Coastal Mapping (IWGOCM) and the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP).
