All acoustic data were processed using the automatic grunt detector and recogniser for Atlantic cod. This method uses a two-stage hypothesis testing algorithm that includes detecting and recognizing all grunt-like sounds. Detector output was manually verified, and false positives are removed. Grunts produced by Atlantic cod are recognized from the detected impulsive signals in the second step. For each n-th detected impulsive signal, the recognizer computes the statistic, w(n) (0 less than w(n) less than equal to 1), and compares it with a threshold, c (c=0.37). If w(n) greater than or equal to c, then the impulsive signal is labeled as \u201cAcod\u201d (that corresponds to the class \u201cAtlantic cod grunt\u201d). All acoustic data were processed using the automatic grunt detector and recogniser for Atlantic cod. This method uses a two-stage hypothesis testing algorithm that includes detecting and recognizing all grunt-like sounds. Detector output was manually verified, and false positives are removed.
