This is a polygon data set representing areas designated as hillsides, by Boise City, within the Boise Area of Impact. Section 11-14-02.1 of the Boise Municipal Code defines hillside areas as \\u201cany topographical slope\\u201d that \\u201cexceeds fifteen percent (15%) or where adverse conditions associated with slope stability, expansion soils, high water table and springs, erosion or sedimentation are present.\\u201d Hillside areas were originally defined based on visual analysis of digital 7.5\\u2019 USGS topographic maps and interpretations made by City of Boise Public Works Department staff. The hillside polygons represent generalized areas where relatively steep slopes or adverse conditions are present. Boise City GIS developed the hillside dataset under direction from the Boise City Public Works Department staff. This data is updated upon request by the Boise City Public Works Hillside Engineer Technician, and is current to the date it was published.
