The Small Culvert Inventory (SCI) was designed as a compliment to that program intended to locate and catalog all state-owned culverts less than 72\\u201d in diameter. However, to ensure that there are no culverts that fall between the NBIS and the SCI, the SCI will inventory all culverts with a measured internal dimension equal to 72\\u201d. The inventory of these structures assesses their location, composition, asset condition and local site conditions. The SCI provides the framework for continued monitoring and condition assessments in the future providing the ability to prioritize maintenance, repairs and replacements.

At the current point in the program\\u2019s maturity, the Agency has collected the initial inventory of culvert data across the state and the focus has shifted from collection of new data to the maintenance and improvement of existing data. At present, the Maintenance Division aims to reinspect all known culverts every 5 years, or roughly 20% of state-owned culverts every year. Inspections are predominantly accomplished using mobile devices with accuracy of 15 ft or better. For culverts that are difficult to access due to configuration (closed system - i.e. drop inlets) or other contextual constraints, Maintenance Division may employ specialized devices, including, but not limited to Utility cameras, 1/10 scale remote controlled off the shelf vehicles retrofitted with cameras (Hydraulic Inspection Vehicle Explorer or HIVE), or purpose-built culvert inspection solutions such as those configured by iPEK.

Data is scheduled to update daily.
\", \"distribution\": [{\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/csv?layers=4\", \"format\": \"CSV\", \"mediaType\": \"text/csv\", \"title\": \"CSV\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/excel?layers=4\", \"format\": \"XLSX\", \"mediaType\": \"application/vnd.ms-excel\", \"title\": \"Excel\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/featureCollection?layers=4\", \"format\": \"TXT\", \"mediaType\": \"text/plain\", \"title\": \"Feature Collection\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/filegdb?layers=4\", \"format\": \"ZIP\", \"mediaType\": \"application/zip\", \"title\": \"File Geodatabase\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/geoPackage?layers=4\", \"format\": \"GPKG\", \"mediaType\": \"application/geopackage+sqlite3\", \"title\": \"GeoPackage\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/geojson?layers=4\", \"format\": \"GeoJSON\", \"mediaType\": \"application/vnd.geo+json\", \"title\": \"GeoJSON\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/kml?layers=4\", \"format\": \"KML\", \"mediaType\": \"application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml\", \"title\": \"KML\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/shapefile?layers=4\", \"format\": \"ZIP\", \"mediaType\": \"application/zip\", \"title\": \"Shapefile\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/api/download/v1/items/a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced/sqlite?layers=4\", \"format\": \"GDB\", \"mediaType\": \"application/geopackage+sqlite3\", \"title\": \"SQLite Geodatabase\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/datasets/VTrans::drop-inlet-inspections\", \"format\": \"Web Page\", \"mediaType\": \"text/html\", \"title\": \"ArcGIS Hub Dataset\"}, {\"@type\": \"dcat:Distribution\", \"accessURL\": \"https://services1.arcgis.com/NXmBVyW5TaiCXqFs/arcgis/rest/services/VTrans_Small_Culvert_Inventory/FeatureServer/4\", \"format\": \"ArcGIS GeoServices REST API\", \"mediaType\": \"application/json\", \"title\": \"ArcGIS GeoService\"}], \"identifier\": \"https://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=a6c386de64204cf0a789bf4c7a86eced&sublayer=4\", \"issued\": \"2024-07-29T19:05:50.000Z\", \"keyword\": [\"Culvert\", \"Highway\", \"Inspection\", \"isothemeTrans\", \"nodeVTRANS\", \"rivers\", \"streams\", \"subthemeRoad\"], \"landingPage\": \"https://geodata.vermont.gov/datasets/VTrans::drop-inlet-inspections\", \"license\": \"
Not all culverts are inspected every 5 years due to many extenuating circumstances.
